Overview
Kapture is a Chrome extension that creates screenshots of webpages at the user's request. This policy explains what information Kapture handles and how it is used.
Information Kapture handles
When the user starts a capture, Kapture processes the visual content of the active webpage and its address to create the requested PNG, JPEG or PDF file. Kapture stores limited screenshot-history metadata locally in Chrome, including the filename, source website hostname, Chrome download ID, capture time and file-availability status. It also stores the user's selected theme and Downloads subfolder setting locally.
How the information is used
The information is used only to create and save screenshots, apply a user-selected viewport size, name downloaded files, display local capture history and let the user open or remove saved captures.
Local storage and retention
Screenshot files are saved directly to the user's computer through Chrome's Downloads system. History metadata and preferences are stored locally using Chrome storage. Users can clear history from Kapture and delete screenshot files through Kapture or their operating system. Local extension data is removed when the extension is uninstalled, subject to Chrome's behaviour. Downloaded screenshot files remain until the user deletes them.
Sharing and transmission
Kapture does not send webpage content, screenshots, browsing information or history metadata to the developer or to external servers. Kapture does not include analytics, advertising, tracking or third-party data services. User data is not sold or transferred to third parties.
Remote code
Kapture does not download or execute remote code. All executable code is included in the extension package distributed through the Chrome Web Store.
Chrome permissions
Kapture uses Chrome permissions only to operate its user-requested screenshot features: access the active tab, inject packaged capture controls, save and open downloads, display the side panel, store local preferences and history, and temporarily apply a selected responsive viewport.
Changes to this policy
If Kapture's data practices change, this policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated before the changed functionality is released.
